The Carlyon Bay Development
Planning Application

Beach Modeling Video

Physical 3D model testing, a technique approved by the Environment Agency, was used to predict the future behaviour of the sea defences at Carlyon Bay across a range of storm scenarios, taking into consideration the waves, currents and water levels, beaches, sediment and morphology and overtopping.  This demonstrated the satisfactory performance of the proposed scheme.

The four videos below show Crinnis and Shorthorn experiencing the equivalent of a 1:200 year storm and a 1:10 year storm.
