Community
Social responsibility should be a key component for any business today and The Beach is committed to giving back to the community on which we rely.

We have created a safe pathway through the construction site down to the sea front for visitors using the beach. We have also invested in a disability vehicle to transport those who do not find it easy to walk down the 82 steps.

Free parking has been provided at the top of the site and a viewing platform at the edge of the beach has been built for wheelchairs. At the Polgaver end of the bay, a footbridge has been constructed so Sandy River can be crossed safely at high tide.

Public toilets and a drinking fountain have also been installed.

The Prince's Trust
In 2003, The Beach set up a sponsorship programme with The Prince’s Trust. We are committed to providing £50,000 a year for five years - a total of £250,000 - for the charity to set up training programmes for young people in the county. It is the biggest donation that the Cornwall branch of The Prince’s Trust has ever received.

It is planned that the Trust will have an office operating from the site in conjunction with the construction programme which will act as a training centre for the charity.

St Austell College Sponsorship
In August we launched the sponsorship of a series of construction courses at St Austell College by providing equipment and tools for students.

Educational day visits have been set up for groups of construction and environmental students from St Austell College. These incorporate site visits and presentations.

Young Enterprise Cornwall
We are mentoring 10 secondary students from Roseland School, as well as a group of GCSE pupils. This is an ongoing partnership with a new set of students each year.

Cornwall Education Business Partnership
We act as a business consultant for the Cornwall Education Business Partnership and regularly participate in their innovation and enterprise days

Local Charities
In September 2006 we were approached by the maker of Mel Gibson’s latest film, Apocalypto. We gave permission to film on our land with the proviso that the location fee of £1,000 was donated to the Vitalise Churchtown Centre at Lanlivery, which provides breaks for disabled people and their carers, and The Merlin Project at Hewaswater, which will be Cornwall’s first Multiple Sclerosis Centre.

We have also contributed to the Charlestown Regatta and a Charity Golf Day at Carlyon Bay Golf Club.

St Austell
St Austell is our local town and is currently undergoing a complete refurbishment to revitalise the centre. We are members of the two organisations - St Austell Chamber of Commerce and the St Austell Partnership - which are striving to move the project forward and ensure its smooth transition into an attractive environment which will draw visitors from all over Cornwall.
