The Carlyon Bay Scheme

We are looking at alternative options for the regeneration of our beach development at Carlyon Bay and recent public exhibitions on site and in St Austell town centre outlined these fresh ideas. We want to understand all the issues that are important to local people to help us define our approach in the future.

Our existing planning permission will create a high quality destination resort. However, we believe there is an exciting opportunity to significantly improve several aspects that will be of major benefit to everyone.

CEG looked at the Secretary of State’s decision and carefully identified the objectives that should define a future scheme for Carlyon Bay.

Cornwall has undergone significant changes in terms of its economic fortunes. Tourism is now one of the County’s most important and growing sectors.

Cornish culture, history and the environment - including the towns and villages - are key reasons why visitors are attracted to the county.

The next stage in the process – creating a framework – is to prepare an informal planning brief for the site which will help define and agree parameters for the new scheme.
