Ecology and Landscaping

Landscaping should be used to enhance the quality of the environment at the site as well as encouraging new habitats within the site and the surrounding area.

The development should incorporate the use of green and brown roofs. Also known as “living roofs”, they serve several purposes for a building, such as absorbing rainwater and creating a habitat for wildlife.

The landscaping should seek to emphasise the use of planting that is appropriate to Cornwall and should be well integrated with the development.

The planning application should be accompanied by a Framework for an Ecological and Landscape Management Plan which will be produced as the proposals evolve in more detail. This will set out processes for the management of the site and introduction of new wildlife habitats.
