Feedback
Around 500 people visited our first exhibition in October 2009. We received a significant number of feedback forms and took careful note of the various comments made about our new approach.
Several issues were mentioned including transport impacts on the surrounding roads and access for the public and local residents to the new development and the beach. They were also interested to learn more about the new design. These issues have helped shape the Development Brief. Also, in response to this feedback the design team has undertaken various site visits to inform the design process.
A number of visitors raised concerns about the likely traffic generation of the development. Our transport consultants are working with the Council and other parties to identify measures to promote the use of more sustainable forms of travel.
We have also established two liaison groups that meet monthly to discuss key topics for the development (e.g. transportation, employment/training and design). The discussions will help to shape our proposals for the site.
Temporary Sea Wall
Another topic raised by visitors concerned the temporary sea wall and the enforcement notice issued by Restormel Borough Council. The notice requires the removal of the wall (steel sheet piling / rock armour) by 8th December 2010. Work is well underway on the removal of the wall on Shorthorn; this will be completed in July. We have also removed some fencing from Polgaver Beach and a temporary car park is being created on Crinnis East.
The works will provide a larger area of beach and the temporary car parking will be available from the end of July for visitors to use to access Shorthorn.
We decided that no further work will be undertaken during the holiday period, to minimise the effects of construction activity that would also result in closing parts of the beach to the public. We will reconsider our position in September.
