The Beach will regenerate a dilapidated brownfield site into a coastal holiday experience that is quite simply one of the best in Britain.
This is possible because investment company Ampersand plans to spend £200 million in creating a modern beachside development. It is Cornwall’s biggest ever, privately-funded regeneration project.
With more than 500 individual holiday homes, restaurants, bars, shops, swimming pools, spa and leisure facilities, it will be of huge benefit to both holidaymakers and the local Cornish people.
The Beach is situated on the south coast of Cornwall between the sailing haven of Fowey and historic village of Charlestown, and close to the up and coming market town of St Austell.
Planning permission for the scheme was originally granted in the 1990s and the developer is now trying to improve the original plans by upgrading sea defences. Work on the project is currently on hold pending the outcome of a planning inquiry which is expected by July 2007.
An exhibition of our plans, including a model of the development, can be viewed at our Information Centre on site which is open six days a week from Tuesday to Sunday.
